EMMA & CAM | ISLE OF SKYE, SCOTLAND

Scottish highland wedding on the Isle of Skye

There really is no place like Skye. Leading up to the weekend, the fog was thick and the rain constant. Miraculously, sunshine broke through on the morning of the wedding and we saw the rolling hills and winding roads clearly for the first time. Colorful bothies dot the landscape under blue skies and sheep can be heard from almost every part of the Isle, especially during this time of year. May is lambing season in Scotland, and we met at Cam's family's sheep croft to take photos with loved ones and a few special guests. Emma & Cam also took me to Brother's Point; with its dramatic cliffs and views of the endless sea, it's easy to see why it is their favorite.
For the wedding itself, the couple took care to incorporate traditional music throughout the celebration. Their ceremony featured the fiddle & harp and a bagpipe processional, all played by friends and family members. Emma & Cam's reception took place at the Skye Gathering Hall, a 150 year old building in Portree overlooking the harbor, and featured Glenfinnan, a local band that set the pace for the cèilidh dance and kept spirits high. Guests came arrayed in kilts and bright colors, making rainbows as the celebratory took off.
